When Dental Work Doesn’t Last Forever
October 4th, 2007 by The Capitalist
Just like with anything else that can break down, dental work is subject to the law of Murphy. Fillings and caps hardly ever seem to fail in some nice, convenient place. No. It’s going to be in a restaurant, or at a party…and of course, usually while trying to eat!
When I was in my senior year at high school, I had the displeasure of losing a filling after biting down on an unpopped kernel of cheese popcorn. The pain was tremendous!!! Fortunately, it wasn’t a front tooth, but it was quite obvious to the whole class after lunch that something was hurting me mightily. I was fortunate that nobody was suicidal enough to think it’d be funny to make some smart-aleck remark… I did have a few ask me if something was wrong with my mouth, though.
Losing a filling doesn’t just revert the tooth to its unfilled state. The suddenly-exposed dentin is VERY sensitive!! So it actually hurts way more than when it had the cavity that the filling repaired. However, getting an immediate appointment at the dentist usually isn’t possible. And, often it’s not possible to just bolt out of whereever you are and go to one, anyway.
It would have been a lot better if I’d been carrying a vial of Dentemp OS with me. This great stuff provides a temporary fix so you can shut down the pain AND restore a good chewing surface at the same time.
DentempOS not only can be used to replace lost fillings, it can also cement crowns (caps) back on! If you’ve got older crownwork, you’ve probably experienced having the crowns come unstuck. Now you can restick them temporarily, and even eat using the affected tooth until you can get to the dentist for a permanent repair.
In only 30 minutes after setting, this temporary dental repair is set enough to allow chewing!
Dentemp OS:
If you have any “iffy” dental work, keep a vial of Dentemp OS on hand for a quick temporary fix!
